Kasie Auten grew up as a “competition kid” in South Carolina.  During her 15 years of dance, she was awarded many regional and national rankings, titles, and special awards. She also attended numerous conventions and master classes where she took from top ranked choreographers and teachers.

After graduating high school, she attended Converse College, where she minored in dance and was a principal in the dance ensemble for four years. While in college, Kasie wanted more, so she ventured outside of the college walls to gain exposure to anything and everything she could.  She attended the American Dance Festival and also traveled to places including NYC and Atlanta to continue her dance education.  During her four years at Converse, she was a teacher for the Lawson Academy where she worked to create a student teacher position for the college dance department, held a position as the only dance tutor for the college, and also choreographed for a competition company based out of a studio in Greer, SC.

Kasie later moved to NYC to continue her training. She worked as an intern at Steps on Broadway, danced in several showcase collaborations, and trained at Broadway Dance Center, Ailey, and Peridance.  After moving back to South Carolina, Kasie took a position with Converse as a teaching artist and co-director for the dance ensemble while looking for her next step in the dance world. Shortly following that position, she stumbled across DanceFX Charleston where she danced as a principal with the Charleston Dance Project.  During her time at DanceFx, she worked as a tap and jazz technique instructor, and also the director of the adult “Tap Crew.” She also taught at a local Mt. Pleasant studio where she took a position as the competition team director.  She has guest taught at the Charleston School of the Arts and Rollings Middle School, choreographed for the Charleston SMART camp, and presented choreography and danced in the SC research symposium. She has held several residency positions and guest choreographed for the Wando High School Dance Department, has taught at the SC-dancing Festival, presented choreography at DanceAthens in Athens, GA, as well as several shows in Charleston, SC, has taught master classes at many studios around the southeast, taught at "Dance Master's of America" and "Gear Up" dance convention's on the east coast, and held a seat on the board as the lowcountry representative for the South Carolina Dance Association for two years. As well as teaching, she has performed in many full-length productions including the Charleston Dance Project’s “Mannequin,” performed in several site-specific pieces around the Charleston area, and is a current member of Sara Cart Sumner’s “The Movement Union.”  She travels to NYC multiple times a year to continue her training and attend seminars, such as the Dance Teacher Summit, where she takes class with some of the leading instructors and choreographers in the country.

Kasie Auten has most recently opened her own studio, Creative Edge Dance Center, where her students are regionally and nationally ranked and recognized dancers. She and the studio were featured on the video series "Untapped Movement."  She’s won numerous choreography awards, and prides herself and her staff in bringing the best technical and up-to-date training to her dancers while providing a positive environment that they can consistently grow, thrive, and be inspired in.
