Kristen Briggman, Senior Staff

Modern 2/3

Kristen Briggman, a Charleston native, embarked on her dance journey at the young age of two. She earned a BS in Exercise Science with a minor in Dance from Coker University. Upon graduation, she had the incredible opportunity to perform internationally with Ballet Preljocaj and Anou Skan in Lyon, France. This experience ignited her passion for exploring the body’s natural ability to move with both power and grace.

She went on to perform as a principal dancer with the Charleston Dance Project, led by Jenny Broe and Sara Sumner. Her diverse performance portfolio includes appearances in two Italian operas for Spoleto Festival USA, “Le Ville” and “Vermonda,” as well as collaborations with numerous local performance companies in the Charleston area. Kristen’s dedication to dance education led her to establish the Youth Education Program at Dancefx Charleston from 2012 – 2014. In this role, she taught various styles of dance and managed four youth companies, providing students with the opportunity to perform locally. Her performance highlights include studying aboard, Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, Charleston Arts Festival, and the American Dance Festival. Kristen specializes in Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, and Improvisation and can’t wait to share her knowledge and unique teaching experience with the students of CEDC.

“Dancing is a universal language that allows us to communicate our inner joy through the simple pleasure of moving naturally.” - Alvin Ailey
