Sara Sumner, Senior Staff

A Virginia native, Sara Cart Sumner holds a BA in Dance Theatre from James Madison University, where she also studied at the London Dance Institute and attended the American Dance Festival as a scholarship recipient in 2003 and 2004.  Sara was named Adjunct Professor of Dance at Ferrum College in 2005 and performed with Danahbella danceworks, a Virginia-based dance company. While living in New York in 2007, Sara worked closely with Monica Bill-Barnes where she continued her dance education and exploration in choreography and teaching. She served as Artistic Director of The Charleston Dance Project, which has performed throughout the region, including Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and The Charleston Dance Festival. Sara was on the College of Charleston Department of Theatre and Dance faculty. Her choreographic works were featured in A Fashion Show at Waterfront Gallery, The South Carolina Dance Festival, Ebb & Flow, and Mannequin: The American Dream.
